About Olympia Family Theater (OFT)
Olympia Family Theater’s mission is to engage audiences of all ages in performances and programs that entertain and educate. We have been serving families in Thurston County and surrounding areas since 2006.


About the position
Olympia Family Theater is hiring a Production Manager who will be responsible for production management of OFT’s mainstage season, interdepartmental communication, venue management, and rental coordination.

Job Duties – Mainstage Production

  • Oversee the execution of all production requirements for each Mainstage show
  • Create and maintain production and tech schedules and calendars.
  • Assist the Artistic Director in creating and maintaining show and season budgets.
  • Schedule and lead regular production meetings with staff and creative teams.
  • Provide clear communication to all members of the creative team ensuring the understanding of resources available to them.
  • Create and distribute design milestones and deadlines, relevant policies and production calendars to all creative teams
  • Organize and facilitate on-site design meetings and designer visits 
  • Lead, manage and supervise stage managers
  • Manage production volunteers and volunteer work parties
  • Manage OFT auditions, including annual “General Auditions” and show specific auditions
  • Distribute post-production surveys to all creative teams and schedule 1:1 debriefs as needed
  • Prioritize making all feel welcome and taken care of while in our space

Job Duties – Venue & Rentals

  • Serve as point of contact for all rentals 
  • Manage routine building maintenance (replacing light bulbs, trash day etc) in collaboration with OFT’s custodian
  • Manage overall building calendar including: mainstage production, education, artists-in-residence and rentals

Skills & Qualifications

  • Training and experience serving in a management role in a production department at a theater, live event venue, or a related field.
  • Enjoy creating and implementing new processes and working across departments.
  • Budget management experience
  • Proven experience in handling production and design processes on large scale productions.
  • Demonstrated creative judgment, excellent problem-solving skills and detail-oriented.
  • Strong ability to lead a team, delegate and communicate effectively across multiple departments and with dynamic people.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities as well as attend to numerous projects concurrently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and willingness to exercise professional courtesy and discretion at all times and maintain confidentiality as required.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours/days reflective of a production schedule of a theater which includes a variety of hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, and on-line meeting platforms such as Zoom, is essential.

Compensation

This is a 20-hour per week and year-round position, paid at $24.00 hourly. We offer a flexible work schedule and unlimited PTO (Paid Time Off) policy, with the expectation that each team member works to thoughtfully prioritize their duties to successfully meet company goals.
