Lex Langguth-Torres

Lex Langguth-Torres (they/them) is a local teaching artist, performer, signer, and slide whistleist. They have spent most of their career advocating for and supporting BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and/or houseless youth in Thurston County through their previous roles at Partners in Prevention Education and Pizza Klatch. Born and raised in southern Washington state, they came to Olympia to attend the Evergreen State College, where they received their BA with emphasis in psychology and cultural studies.  As a teaching artist, Lex is passionate about facilitating an environment of creative expression, growth, and safety where students can explore what it means to securely embody emotions, experiences, and the marvelous real. There is the saying that lives at OFT that goes “theater is alive”, and they also hold that culture is alive as well, not stagnate. Lex is passionate about our responsibility to be responsive to our community’s needs as they grow and shift. They believe it is our privilege to influence the culture of our community by uplifting young artists who come to OFT as an accessible outlet. Lex is honored to contribute to the work of fostering a supportive and empathetic environment that imbues collective responsibility for all participants who walk through Olympia Family Theatre’s doors.
