Olympia Poetry Nights – Lucas Smiraldo

Meet our April 5 feature – Lucas Smiraldo! Don’t forget to join us in-person at OFT on the first Tuesday of the month Feb-April for these unique events.

Lucas Smiraldo is a poet and collaborative artist who loves fusing genres. He has just published his book, 365 Revolutions, a daily set of liberation anthems inspired by a yoga pose for every week of the year, elevated by original line illustrations of diverse yoga practitioners.

When he performs he likes to play with audience members, often inviting them into the performances through orchestrated word and new interpretations inspired by his pieces.

He welcomes grassroots ownership of poetry and built this as the cornerstone during his two year stint as Poet Laureate for the City of Tacoma. His project of recorded pieces embedded into a city map titled The Laureate Listening Project is still online and has become part of Tacoma’s oral history and story narrative.
