Auditions – The Girl Who Swallowed a Cactus

Announcing auditions for The Girl Who Swallowed a Cactus!
Tuesday January 10th, 6-8pm

This show will feature one adult narrator who works with an adult and youth ensemble to depict the story of how young Sheila and her band of buddies face a well-dressed coyote in the middle of a moonlit desert and are challenged to save the world.

We are looking for youth with a playable age range of 10-14 for the following roles:

  • Sheila – brave, bold and smart
  • Dennis – tall and as strong as three 3rd graders
  • Leon – clever and shy about his smile
  • The Twins (two actors) – Shy and Eager, giggle a lot

We are also looking for two or three adult ensemble members to puppeteer and change set pieces as well as depict masked characters.

All performers may play multiple roles and operate puppets.

Schedule:

Rehearsals will take place Tue-Thurs evenings and Sunday afternoons throughout February and March.

The show dates are:
Friday March 10th – 7pm
Saturday March 11th – 3pm and 7pm
Sunday March 12th – 3pm
Friday March 17th – 7pm
Saturday March 18th – 3pm and 7pm
Sunday March 19th – 3pm
Friday March 24th – 7pm
Saturday March 25th – 3pm and 7pm

We will ask you to cold read some selections from the script.

Video auditions may be submitted at any time. 

Prepare an introduction to yourself, the stories that excite you, and how you like to collaborate. Prepare a monologue or passage per the instructions above. Total video time should be less than 5 minutes. We recommend uploading your video to Google Drive and sending a link to . Make sure that the video is accessible to anyone who has the link (Kate will share it only with the directors).
