*If you cannot attend these auditions but feel passionate about auditioning, contact and we may be able to schedule you an individual time. If you attended the General Auditions, did not get called back for this show, but are strongly interested in this production, you are more than welcome to attend these auditions and show us your comedy skills!

This is a super funny (and fiery) adaptation of the beloved children’s book by Adam Rubin. Structurally, The text of the play is only 28 pages – meaning DRAGON SHENANIGANS MUST COMMENCE PROMPTLY. 95% of the spoken text is delivered by the “Man in Suit” narrator/host character. Thus, the other cast members must be able to communicate well with their bodies and faces. Physical comedy, comedic timing, ability to execute choreography, listening/reacting skills, pantomime and an abundance of joy are the greatest qualifications for this show.

Auditions will consist of exercises and games more than readings. Come prepared to move around and make each other laugh! There are no age, gender or physical restrictions on any roles (“Boy” doesn’t have to be a boy, “Man” doesn’t have to be a man, “Dragon” doesn’t have to be a real dragon, etc). Although, we do want the role of “Boy” to be played by a youth.

CASTING CALL

Boy

A youth on the verge of giving up on their homework when suddenly interrupted by a lot of information about Dragons and Tacos. This role is almost entirely silent but onstage the entire time. The actor cast must be extremely expressive with their face and stay focused/react to the action around them.

Leroy, A Dog

Leroy is Boy’s best companion. Leroy has no lines but is onstage all the time and must be a real good dog all the time. Special skills: “sit” and “fetch”

4 Dragons: Red, Blue, White,  and Yellow

Arguably the most fun characters in the show. Some of our dragons may have their faces covered and therefore will need to do all of their emoting through their body movements. Clown skills, timing and physical comedy are a great asset to these roles. Pantomime and puppetry experience are also a plus! These roles are completely silent but will eventually burn the entire house down. They are high energy but we are happy to work with folks at the level of their physical ability.

Man In Suit Also Moxy CLean Guy and Telenovela Character

The BIG speaking role of the show. This showboaty, MC, narrator, host, charismatic, salesperson,fount-of-enthusiasm character will deliver 95% of the text of this play.

NOTE: AUDITIONS FOR THIS SPECIFIC ROLE WILL BE HELD WEDNESDAY AUGUST 31ST AT 5:30.
These auditions will be combined with auditions for the role of the Dust Cloud in The Girl Who Swallowed a Cactus. Click here for information.
