OFT Needs Your Help

To Our Community,

For nearly two decades, Olympia Family Theater has been a cornerstone of our community, bringing stories to life for audiences of all ages, and providing educational programming focused on building up the next generation of creative thinkers. With the support of our community, we have nurtured the creative spirit in countless children. We are proud of the impact we’ve made together.

However, like many in the performing arts sector, we have faced significant financial challenges in the wake of the COVID pandemic. We want to be transparent about the tough decisions we are navigating to ensure the stability of our organization going forward, including reducing our footprint and staff hours. Despite our continuing efforts to adapt, these difficulties have left us at a critical point, and we are reaching out today to ask for your help

Recently, we have made the difficult decision to vacate our second space next door to the theater (what we called the “OYAA” room). As theaters are closing their doors across the country at an alarming rate, we are downsizing in many ways in an effort to restructure as we navigate this current crisis.

We know this is tough news to share with our community, but weare deeply committed to the sustainable future of Olympia Family Theater. With your help, we can overcome our upcoming budget shortfalls, complete our resizing efforts, and continue to be a source of joy for our community. We have exciting plans in place for the coming months, and we look forward to creating more opportunities to gather, celebrate, and grow together – for years to come.

Now more than ever, your support is crucial for ensuring the future of Olympia Family Theater. Whether through a donation, renewing your membership, or simply spreading the word, your involvement will help us continue to serve as a community center for the arts for all ages.

WAYS YOU CAN SUPPORT:

  • Making a tax-deductible donation at Olyft.org/donate, or through our recently-launched GoFundMe campaign online
  • Becoming a Member of OFT at Olyft.org/membership
  • Getting some extra tickets to hand out to friends to our upcoming production of Honk the Musical, available on our website (we are very excited to present this joyful musical, opening November 29!)
  • Sharing our GoFundMe campaign on social media to help spread the word

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The support of the community we love truly means the world to us.

With Deep Gratitude,
Mark Alford, Executive Director and Deane Shellman, Board Chair
