Calling all Teaching Artists: OFT is hiring!

Teaching Artist Job Description 

About Olympia Family Theater (OFT)
Olympia Family Theater’s mission is to engage audiences of all ages in performances and programs that entertain and educate. We have been serving families in Thurston County and surrounding areas since 2006. From humble beginnings, OFT has become a thriving non-profit arts organization engaging thousands of children and their families each year. To date we have produced nearly 60 shows in our mainstage season, including 5 world premieres. 

About the position
Olympia Family Theater is hiring Teaching Artists to serve in the classroom as lead teachers for workshops, weekly classes, and break camps. We are currently prioritizing staffing for summer placements. Teaching Artists should be comfortable working with K-12 aged youth. We are looking for Teaching Artists to lead students in a variety of skill sets including but not limited to creative drama, devised theater, writing, improvisation, movement, vocal development, and other performing arts.

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with K-12 aged youth
  • Experience working in the performing arts, with specialty in at least one practice
  • Share OFT’s commitment to an anti-racist and pro-justice practice
  • Reliable communicator via email, phone, and in-person settings
  • Ability to work independently, and in small and large groups
 

Compensation
Teaching Artists are paid $25.00 hourly for both teaching and prep hours. The amount of prep time varies between classes, camps, and workshops. TA’s receive individual offer letters for each particular engagement that clearly define compensation and hours.
