Angel Ramirez

If you haven’t noticed as of yet, OFT has a new employee who shoots glitter sparkles into the air with every heel clack around the office.

Angel Ramirez, also known as Lucy Elle Balls when on stage, is the perfect addition to our OFT Family.

I had the chance to interview her and this is what she has to say…

How did you first get involved in the theater?

I began my involvement in theater when I was in middle school. I got my taste of being on a stage and no one could take it away from me. My acting/theater resume only grew from there. I did everything from acting, singing, improv, dancing and tech. My love of theater eventually became a career when I began to perform as a Drag Queen in Long Beach, CA. Now that I am in Olympia I’m excited to continue my career in theater with OFT.

What is your favorite theater memory?

It’s difficult to choose just one. So many memories have been made through the years, I definitely think about all the memories made when I was in Gypsy all the time. When I think back to all the productions, the feeling of being a part of a team who just wants to get together to create art is very exciting to me.

What do you love about Olympia’s arts scene?

I love the inclusivity of all the art! Being new to Olympia and Washington, I was very nervous to express my art and be rejected. I was also scared that I wouldn’t find a place to showcase myself. I am so glad that I was able to not only showcase, but also build a network of artistic talent, full of folx who just want to spread joy. As I continue my artistic journey I am happy to say that Olympia’s Art Scene was there for me!

What are you most excited about in your new role at OFT?

I am most excited to be back in a real live theater. Throughout the shutdown, I would have to bring entertainment to folx via Instagram live. I am happy to be back and be a part of an amazing team that is doing amazing work for youth and the community.

Fun facts about Angel are…

– I’ve been a Drag performer for over 6 years!

– I went to Culinary School, and ended up only using that training for a small cooking show on youtube, but hey, I try!

– I’m a self taught sewist, costume designer, and wig stylist.

If you see Angel, feel free to say “Hi” and go check her out in our adaptation of The Secret Garden. She may even have a drag show coming up you’ll want to swing by.
