Synopsis: In a small seaside village where men build boats and women do not, young Suzette knows she is different-she longs for the sea. She is meant for something greater than just a life on land. When a mysterious event occurs, Suzette is forced to do that most difficult thing—prove herself worthy of her destiny. Loading her loved ones onto a boat she has secretly built, Suzette sets to sea. What follows is an adventurous, imaginative tale exploring courage, community and the possibility that sometimes it only takes the actions of a single person to change everything.

CHARACTERS

Captain– a middle aged female sea captain who commands the full gravity of her position while never entirely abandoning her secret past
One Legged Pete– the sea tested right hand to the Captain, a two-legged mute who ends up voicing for the character of Suzette in the story, full of surprises
Conroy– deck hand who is new to life at sea, struggling to make sense of a world quite different from what they expected
*We may be casting additional villagers, musicians, or deckhands
