The Wind in the Willows is a classic of children’s literature by Kenneth Grahame, first published in 1908. Set in the Thames valley, the story stars our old favorites Toad (of Toad Hall), Rat, Mole and Badger.

The first stage adaptation of The Wind in the Willows was created by A.A. Milne (of Winnie the Pooh fame) in 1929, when the book was in its thirty-first printing.

Olympia Family Theater is fortunate to have as part of our community the gifted playwright Andrew Gordon, who had brought us his own NEW original adaptation of this classic English tale. We invite you to enjoy the adventure, the camaraderie and the celebration of Toad, Rat, Mole and Badger with us in this new musical adaptation.

The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood

March 29 – April 14, 2013

Directed by Tom Sanders
Produced with permission from The Dramatic Publishing Company

It sure is hard to be humble when you’re a swashbuckling, egocentric super-hero. But our gallant guy-in-green tries his best as he swaggers through The Somewhat True Tale of Robin Hood, a frantically funny, Monty Pythonesque retelling of the classic. This time around, the legendary legend, in his never-ending quest to aid the needy, encounters a lovely damsel-in-distress (oddly obsessed with skin conditions); an ever-scheming sheriff who would rather bowl a strike than hit a bull’s-eye; a gold-hoarding, bad-guy monarch wannabe; and a good-natured “Town’s Guy” who manages to make his way into every scene, whether he belongs there or not. Combine them with an expandable band of spoon-wielding Merry Men whose collective IQs equal six, and you’ve got an irreverent jaunt through Sherwood Forest you won’t soon forget!

Cinder Edna happens to live next door to the famous girl you have probably of: Cinderella.  Cinderella and Cinder Edna, who both live with cruel stepmothers and stepsisters, have different approaches to life.  Cinder Edna has better things to do than sit in the ashes and feel sorry for herself.  Also, she doesn’t believe in Fairy Godmothers, so she saves her money to put a dress on layaway, just in case  special occasion should arise.  She takes the bus to the ball AND she wears comfortable shoes. Although each ends up with the prince of her dreams, one is a great deal happier than the other.
