Performing Arts Class
For kids aged 8- 13ish
Performing and Acting are great ways for young people to build on imagination, movement, vocal, and social skills! The goal of these classes is to build and strength Acting ability so that by the end of the class series, students have gained clear knowledge and strongly developed skill set for performance. Classes are fun, educational, and encourage the imagination and skill building of participants. Each class will comprise of a series of exercises and games that focus specifically on a weekly class theme. Typical classes will incorporate exercises/games. At the end of each class there will be a 10 minute cool down and reflection period for participants to discuss the class.
Winter Session of OFTeenies- Our educational programming for our youngest patrons (2 “ish” and up!) runs 8 weeks, January 11th- March 1st
Saturdays at 10am- Creative Movement Class:
For kids aged 2-3ish
This is designed for children who love to dance and move but are still a bit too young for a more structured dance class. This class allows children to explore movement and dance through games, stories, and songs. Class will aid in the development of rhythm, coordination, and creativity! Grown up participation encouraged!
Saturdays at 11am- Creative Movement and Theater Class:
For kids aged 4-6ish
This class follows a framework in which children are introduced to the fun of the theatrical arts! Each class in the 8 week course explores a different element of the theatrical arts. Including but not limited to acting, voice, creative movement, and improv. Grown up participation optional and encouraged!

Amy Shephard is a local actor, dancer, singer, and all around performer! She received her Bachelors in Liberal Arts with a focus in performance from The Evergreen State College in Olympia in 2009. During 2011-2012 Amy attended graduate school in England at the University of Exeter and graduated with honors receiving a Masters degree in Applied Drama. She is trained in several techniques including, Viewpoints, Shakespearean, and Physical Theatre. Favorite roles include The Mouse in Olympia Family Theater’s production of If you Give a Mouse a Cookie, Maria in Evergreen Shakespeare’s production of Twelfth Night or What you Will, and Nell Gwynne in Harlequin Productions production of Or,. Amy loves working in theatre that encourages community development and educational enrichment. She spends her free time hiking and researching whales.
All classes are held at the OFT Playspace at 112 State Ave. NE in downtown Olympia.
To register- print out, fill out, and send in the following forms along with your $25 deposit, to sign up! If you’ve already taken one of our classes or camps, all we need is the registration form and deposit to reserve your space in the next session. Cost is $8 per class, so $64 for the 8 week session. Ongoing registrations are available, or you can pay the “drop in” rate of $10 per class.
