What are parents saying about OFTeenies?
“Teacher Terri [is] teaching music/drama classes through the Olympia Family Theater…and she is AMAZING! [We] were in her class last spring and are in it again this fall. I thought we were already a pretty musical bunch, but she’s taught SO many songs that [my little one] brings home and sings unprompted. There are all sorts of ways this has made my life better — songs to sing if we’re quickly trying to walk somewhere, little activity songs to do while waiting in line . . . anyway, I can’t say enough about Terri! She’s brought a lot of joy to my parenting! And she offers all sorts of little tips to help parents as well — like singing in a higher octave encourages kids to sing with you–this has totally worked for me!”
2013 Spring/Summer Class descriptions
Babies/Toddlers Class (0- 3 yrs)
Saturday at 10am (Beginning Summer session-July 13)
Parents/Caregivers and their infants will gather weekly for these 45 minute, joy-filled, musical classes, singing seasonal and engaging songs, playing drums, shakers, scrapers, bells, and rhythm sticks, and doing circle dances and a little sign language. Scarves, balls, a colorful parachute, puppets, and parents’ active participation will combine to create weekly magical, musical, giggle-provoking moments with your little ones.
Toddler Class (1½ – 3½ years)
Saturdays at 10am (through Spring session)
Each 45 minute class will be interactive with toddlers and their grownups enjoying toe-wiggling rhymes, circle dances, playing instruments, swishing scarves, rolling and bouncing balls, getting silly by shaking our “tail feathers” and exploring toddlers’ emerging repertoires of movement – from walking to running, twirling, jumping, rolling, and more!
Preschool Class (3½ – 5 years)
Saturdays at 11am
Preschoolers thrive on pretend play, so in this one hour class, there will be lots of singing, acting, moving and playing instruments with theme based stories and an eclectic set of songs.
Early Schoolers Class (5 – 7 years)
Saturdays at noon
This is a class for the newest school children: Kindergarten, First and Second Graders, who thrive on additional music, play and story time. In each one hour class, we will use stories inspired by fairy tales and children’s picture books and play with both music and acting to recreate a different story each week.
OFT Education Mission: OFT is your community partner in raising imaginative, loving, joyful and confident children.
